I dreamt about this last night...

Spider-Man has made a deal with Mephisto (ie the Devil) to save Aunt May, by agreeing to have his marriage to Mary-Jane erased from memory. Whether that's *his* memory, or just everyone elses I'm not sure... but anyway, quite why I dreamt about this I don't know. I didn't realise I cared so much!

It's everyones and it's Marvel's way of turning back the clock on the Spiderman universe and giving us a 'young' bachelor Peter Parker again to try and appeal to the younger market.
It's known as a 'ret-con' and happens sometimes in long-running TV shows too, where you basically introduce a plot device to explain why something never happened, or happened differently to the original intent.

Why do I know about this? Well it's been written (and Amazing Spiderman has been for the last 5 years or so) by Joe Straczynski, creator and primary writer on Babylon 5, one of my favourite shows ever. It's a somewhat un-austair ending to his run to be honest.
