This has to happen

Pullman to write for Doctor Who? Come on RTD - get it sorted!!

Pullman does mention the fact that Rose's ending displayed more than a passing resemblance to the HDM ending, but says he's 'flattered' by it. He might have been more flattered, you assume, if the similarity was acknowledged in some way, no matter how tiny. They should have named a zeppelin Pullman, I reckon.

And Anthony 'Alex Rider' Horowitz wants to write for it too. None of these people have ever written a script, though...
And whatever happened to Stephen Fry's episode? Is he going to revise it? Is he going to write another one?

Seriously, though, with all these people queueing up to give some high-powered writing muscle, why do we have to put up with Chris Chibnall and Helen Raynor?

You're so right. I'm sure Anthony Horowitz would be brilliant - didn't he write the script for the Alex Rider film, or am I making that up? (*IMDb's it*...) Oooh no I'm not making it up. Great stuff :)

I can see the point of using Torchwood as a nursery slope for Doctor Who — there's been hardly any genre television in the UK for so long that there are very few writers or directors who have any experience of it. And they have found a few who are really good at it, plus quite a few with promise. And Chibnall. But from that point of view, I can see how it might be counterproductive to parachute in well-known names from other branches of writing. The big comics publishers have tried that over the past few years, and it hasn't always worked.

It is a problem, writing in different media: some writers can do it, and do it well, understanding the demands and restrictions, the possibilities and the impact of working to a different audience and reception and speed of absorbing detail, narration, projection of characters.

And then there is the Chib....
