Things we have learnt from Strictly Come Dancing #1

Women aren't allowed to be competitive. Fine for Matt Dawson, Darren Gough, Ramps et al, but Gabby? No, she wanted it a bit too much.

In fact, that's totally over-simplifying it. Everyone seems to be saying that it's Gabby's 'lack of warmth' that meant she was in the bottom two, and yet Penny seems the nicest female 'cast member' on the show. In other words, there is no rhyme or reason to the voting public...

I think that with Matt, Darren and Ramps, what I liked was that they started off competitive and then they fell in love with the dancing. Gabby just looked like she wanted to win but didn't care about dancing. That doesn't wash well. I also suspect the public didn't like the way she kept doing athletics moves, that's "cheating".

But I think you are also right, there is some sexism going on about the way women are "supposed" to be. I am just backing away from it, because I don't like Gabby, and I don't want to be on the side of the sexists.
