Last night's Qi

Anyone see this? The topic was divination, and when Alan Davies tried out his buzzer at the start he disappeared, like he was being beamed up or teleported something. He said a few disembodied words and then didn't come back. For literally about twenty-five minutes he was completely absent from the show. He said a few more of those disembodied words near the end, but that was it. He didn't actually rematerialise. I was very confused.

Err, literally? That sounds a bit weird. I don't watch QI so I'm not sure if it's a weird attempt at one of those generally awful 'Panel-show skits' (see later Lammar-era Buzzcocks), or just someone spiking your cake with some sort of hallucigenic. Alternatively, perhaps he couldn't be there for the filming so they pretended he'd vanished and just dubbed in some lines after. I'm not actually sure why I don't watch QI, it has everything about a show I should like but I just never seem to bother...
Man, I am having real trouble writing eloquent sentances today, forgive me...

I think that must have been it, because it was just so random. The show was a lot more low-key (dull) for his absence.

I saw that and found it very disconcerting. I spent about five minutes expecting him to come back and then... he didn't. I too thought it may have been something like filming had overrun and Davies had a prior booking he couldnt re-arrange.

The rest of the show was not only lacking him (and showed him to be the key personality) but felt almost entirely scripted. Lame jokes, no energy. An utterly pointless episode.

I saw Alan interviewed on that rubbish Sunday Morning BBC2 thing with Tim Lovejoy and he said that he had something written into his contract about filming not clashing with Arsenal games and so that is where he was for that show. At an Arsenal game. Nice work if you can get it eh?

Really?! That's astonishing!
