So long, Mitchell and Webb...

(I write this accepting that blogger will probably lose it as seems to be happening with 50% of my comments at the moment...)

I didn't see any of them Anna - been watching the Decline of Rome series.

Were they all that bad?

Rome was alright last night. They portrayed Constantine as a bit of a nutter, and it was done really well, in spit of the Guardian TV Guide laughing at the meteor special effect. The BBC are rubbish at meteors.

It worked!

And I mean "spite" not "spit"!

Congratulations on maintaining your anti-Extras rage all the way to the end, Anna.

While I agree with your views on Extras in general I have to say I find it partially redeemed by the fact that every scene with Stephen Merchent in is just brilliant...

Might watch the last episode tonight and then blog about it actually...

I agree Stephen Merchant's very funny - I heard him on a Secret Policeman's Ball podcast and he was great.

Simon - It's not all that clear but my 'rage' as Paul puts it is only with Extras :) I thought Mitchell and Webb was *excellent*.

Can't agree that Mitchell and Webb was excellent; it was an average sketch show after a raft of awful ones.
Extras however, was a piece of shit. If I see Gervais in the street I will shout at him and tell him so.

It was the most uneven, uninventive, self-satsified, incoherent, misjudged, badly realised and smug comedy in years. I must.. nggggggggggggg... hate it more.

Watching some Alan Partridge the other day. Now that is some great comedy. (First season IAP.)

This brilliant sentence makes me forget you were'nt impressed ith M+W :)

Anna,

I should clarify by saying that part of my M&W malaise was that I was just so depressed after watching Extras. I did like the first two episodes.

However, they have written probably the best sketch ever in the Waffen-SS Mitchell asking:
"Hans... are we the baddies?"

I hooted (which is what I do when laughter isn't enough). Brilliant.

I'm exactly the opposite. Loved Extras, hated Mitchell and Webb.

Good, we need an Extras-supported, it's all been a bit one sided. Care to elaborate?
