Coolest Man In The World, nomination #2

Wayne Coyne was the first one, and he's still impossibly cool, obviously, but now I've finally *got* Bill Nighy -

about two years after most people, admittedly. He was on Richard and Judy yesterday and he really was the funniest, most charming interviewee I've seen in a long long time.

And he pulls off those glasses in a way I thought only Mr. Folds:

and Mr. Tennant were able....

So all hail Bill Nighy and his film saving ability (see Love Actually and Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy among others). Perhaps go see Stormbreaker, which promises to be a classy, high concept British film - and that can only be a good thing.

See also The Girl in The Cafe and Giddeon's Daughter for fine fine fine examples of Mr Nighy's ability.

Good blogging Anna

My love for Bill Nighy goes back to when he played a (slighty) sleazy journalist (ex?) hubby in a programme with Imelda Staunton and Janet McTeer which I've forgotten the name of now and which I can't check as the net keeps crashing here.

But he IS ace. V funny about the glasses thing too.

He's keeping good company, isn't he?!

I have met him, in the bookshop. He is lovely and far too sexy for someone that old. We chatted for quite a while and when he said goodbye he did a devastating little salute. Cooler than the other side of the pillow.

Lucky gal! Only ultra-cool people can pull off a salute...

Bill Nighy...hmm, I don't think he lives in my town. I suppose I shouldn't have expected all your nominations to do so.

Marie, that is SUCH a great encounter. I think I too would have died a little at that salute!
